Childbirth education is an important step in preparing your family for labor, delivery, and early parenting. We highly recommend that every expecting couple attend a class during pregnancy. We offer many different varieties and structures for our classes, so that we can serve the needs of all families in Erath, Hood, Hamilton and surrounding counties.
Your Body, Your Baby, Your Birth is a four-week course designed for families seeking a natural or low-intervention birth in either a home or hospital setting. This class focuses on the physiological portions of pregnancy, labor, and birth. Sessions include information on nutrition and exercise, stages of labor, relaxation and comfort measures, writing a birth plan, breastfeeding, and newborn care. Taking a class as a group can help you to meet new friends entering into the same stage of life. Some of my best friends I met in childbirth classes.
Private Courses are taught in your home on a much more personalized level. Whether this is your first baby or your tenth, we can meet you where you are and help you expand your knowledge of birth. Preparation and knowledge are some of the most important pieces to claiming the birth that you want. We can schedule private classes as needed, but the course material normally lasts about twelve hours total.
Birth Partner Preparation is a fantastic one-day course designed for any support person that will be in the room with the laboring mother. It would also be a great refresher for a couple that has birthed before, but is feeling uneasy about remembering everything the second time. We will focus on what normal labor looks like to an observer and how you can best serve the laboring mother. We will cover ways to offer comfort and pain management, as well as how to advocate for the care you deserve.
Birth Planning is a unique and individualized service that we offer in the comfort of your own home. We can help to provide you with the latest, evidence-based information for you to be able to create an educated birth plan based upon choice, and not fear. We also help you to understand what things on your birth plan may need to change in the event of an unforeseen complication, and how to adjust to unfolding a new plan if necessary. Your birth is one of the greatest events in your lifetime, and all the planning needs to be done within nine short months. Let us help you sort out fact from fiction.
